Call us what you want: Investment Advisor. Educator. Collaborator. Emotional anchor.

At Martin Wealth Management, our role shifts with your life. Sometimes we’re your financial quarterback, other times a calm hand on your shoulder. No matter the moment, we’ll walk beside you to help you through all stages of wealth: growing it, protecting it, turning it into income, and eventually passing it to the people and causes you care about most.

We’re a family-run team that started when Gillian joined the advisory practice her dad, Doug, launched in 1997. Doug mentored Gillian for over a decade before retiring in 2025, marking 50 years of service with TD. Today, Gillian continues the work they began together—supporting multi-generational families who are clear on what matters and bold enough to pursue it.

What We Do

We are a one-stop shop and liken ourselves to your "financial physician".  We take responsibility for the everyday management of your investment accounts, but our goal is to support you in all areas of your financial health and planning by collaborating with TD specialists where appropriate to cover your needs regarding: tax, estates, business and cottage succession, insurance, retirement income generation, philanthropic giving, socially responsible investing, and planning for major purchases like education for your children or grandchildren. We expect our clients to set aside the time, at minimum, for one face-to-face (or video-conference) meeting per year.  We don't place an ending time on our meetings, as we believe that the further we deepen our relationship and gain an understanding of what makes you you, the more appropriate and comprehensive advice we are able to offer you.

As a part of our ongoing relationship, we may engage TD specialists as appropriate to help you to answer questions like:

  • How much should I be setting aside now for my eventual retirement?
  • Should I allocate monthly savings toward a RSP or a TFSA?
  • How can I ensure my investments align with my values?
  • Am I paying too much for insurance that I don't need?
  • Can I better take advantage of my employer's benefits and savings programs?
  • How can I reduce my annual tax bill?
  • Should I add myself as a joint account holder to my aging mother's investment account?
  • Is it time to update my Will?
  • How can I best set up my children for financial success?
  • Should I make a lump-sum repayment of my mortgage?
  • How can I pass down my cottage so that it stays in the family?
We strive to help you through active listening, learning about what is important to you and behavioural coaching. You don't need a business degree to feel comfortable working with us. Instead, we explain ourselves in plain language and offer analogies and relatable stories to de-mystify complex topics and empower you through financial education.

Experience a year in the life of a Martin Wealth Management client

Our Approach to Investing and Client Care

Our process is simple. Here's how it works:

  • We discover any behavioural tendencies that might be holding you back
  • We become crystal clear about your goals
  • We automate your savings plans using the most beneficial accounts
  • We get your money working for you through investments in stocks, bonds and/or alternative strategies
  • We tend to the holistic areas that make up your financial health and well-being
  • We keep you accountable by tracking your progress against your goals

We don’t time the market, chase headlines or change your plan because of elections, recessions, or other market noise. Instead, we focus on what we can control: articulating your goals, adjusting your saving and spending behaviour, designing a thoughtful plan employing diversified investments, and cultivating the discipline to stick with it — especially when it’s hard.

Through years of experience, we know that often the best move in investing is making no move at all. But when your life changes, your plan should too. That’s why we ask clients to meet with us at least once a year and check in anytime something significant in their life changes.

We’ll always be honest with you, even when it’s hard. We’ll never make a promise we can’t keep. We’ll listen before offering strategies or suggestions. And we’ll care for your money like it’s our own. Ultimately, our goal at Martin Wealth Management is to help you get organized, get clear, and stay on track — so you can spend more time on the life you’re building and less time stressing over your finances.
