Who We Are
Tim Wyman and Greg Obertas are Discretionary Portfolio Managers and partners in “Wyman Obertas Wealth”, a private investment advisory group specializing in wealth management for high net worth clients.
We have no such thing as a typical client. There are, however, typical strategic objectives that our clients ask us to meet.
Those strategic objectives are:
We believe these expectations are fundamental for those wishing to protect and grow their wealth.
Wealth Management in Principle
All clients are different but certain things remain constant, fundamental and unalterable. Our investment principles are three of them. These principles are:
This is crucial, since asset allocation accounts for as much as 90% of performance. Establishing an appropriate asset mix is a dynamic process and it plays a key role in determining the risk and return in any portfolio. Making that determination is not something we do unilaterally. You are a central and ongoing part of this conversation.
Risk Return Tradeoff
The more risk to which an investor is exposed, the higher the returns that investor ought to enjoy. We like to be able to sleep well at night and believe that our clients should enjoy a similar privilege. We will never expose your portfolio to more risk than you, in careful consultation with us, are prepared to tolerate.
It is fundamental that the careful combination of different asset classes, such as fixed income, equities and cash, can materially reduce risk while potentially increasing returns. Diversification reduces the potential for adverse market fluctuations and allows for more consistent portfolio performance.
Wealth Management in Practice
Applying these principles in practice enables us to create the conditions for long-term investment stability and growth.
By combining an asset mix of fixed income, equities and cash, we build a portfolio balance that enables our clients to tolerate volatility even during periods of market decline.
We stabilize a portfolio with enough fixed-income securities so that, even in times of exceptional challenge, portfolio performance remains within acceptable limits.
Major shifts in capital markets represent opportunities to adjust and rebalance a portfolio. Periods of over or under-valuation of either bonds or equities are windows of opportunity to rebalance a portfolio within agreed tolerances.
