John Van Der Marel attributes his success as an Investment Advisor to his years of experience in the financial industry. Not only has John completed the Professional Financial Planning Course (PFPC), Chartered Investment Manager Certification (CIM) and holds the Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), prior to joining TD Wealth Management, John held a number of senior positions within TD Bank Group.

Combined with his education, these years of experience serve John well in his ability to address complex wealth issues, while developing a customized wealth management plan for each of his clients.

John uniquely positions himself in the wealth management industry as a licensed Life Insurance Advisor.  This additional qualification allows him to provide a comprehensive service to his clients that include risk management strategies.

As a resident of the Barrie area, John strongly supports community programs and organizations.  He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Barrie Film Festival and Theatre by the Bay.
