As a TD Wealth Investment Advisor, I want to exceed my clients' expectations through a strategy that combines my skills, knowledge and experience. As a Certified Financial Planner, I add value because of the disciplined and consultative approach I take to advising my clients and planning for their future. I follow a financial planning framework that touches on all areas of my clients' financial make-up; not solely investments. I seek long-term relationships based on trust, not associations that frequently centre on short-term trading activity.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
I earned my Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen's University in 1975. That same year I joined the Toronto-Dominion Bank and have held progressively responsible management positions in Branch management, commercial lending, marketing, equipment leasing and insurance.
I am committed to continuously upgrading my skills through further education. In 1997 I obtained my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation after four years of study and in 2002 my Level ll Life and Disability Insurance Agent License.
INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY and APPROACH
My investment philosophy is conservative. I invest for the long-term seeking steady growth and/or income, all the while respecting my clients' special risk tolerances and profiles. I believe in staying invested, using dollar cost averaging and in not trying to correctly "time the market". I do not believe in being a "home run hitter" as invariably this type of advisor will have more "strike outs". When dealing with something as intensely personal and valued as one's financial future, there is no room for "strike outs".
I have a carefully sculpted and screened network of professional advisors to whom my clients can be referred, including insurance specialists, tax accountants, estate lawyers and estate planning advisors.
COMMITMENT TO SERVICE
I promise to invest my clients' capital as carefully as I do my own. I commit to tell the plain, unvarnished truth all the time, sometimes when my clients may not want to hear it. Finally, I will never tell my clients I can do something I cannot, nor will I tell them I am going to do something, and then not do it.
By working together in the spirit of mutual trust, there is nothing within reason my clients and I cannot accomplish. Perhaps the most important thing is: my clients will never have to worry again. That is what they are hiring me to do.
