Over three decades, Brad has developed an abiding belief in evidence-based financial science and the efficacy of free capital markets. He sees markets as an ally, not an adversary and he believes his philosophy leads to better solutions. Rather than delivering "products" driven by manager "skill," Brad concentrates on what he believes really matters: portfolio structure and avoiding big mistakes. Prediction, prophesy, market timing, stock picking and technical analysis are considered to be futile and costly. Markets beat managers.
Investing requires objectivity, and few of us have it, especially when it comes to our money. It's not easy and asking for help doesn't mean you're weak or foolish. The solution sounds quaint, but I believe you need someone who cares as much about your money as you do, but has the emotional distance, discipline and experience to help you make smart decisions. You need more than a broker. You need a wealth management team and the cornerstone of that team is me - a Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Investment Advisor.
A wealth management team consists of all the financial advisors in your life, from your lawyer and bankers to your accountant. My role, as a Senior Portfolio Manager is to understand what you need from your investments. Maybe it's more free time with your family, a new cottage, a top-notch college education for your children or grandchildren or ensuring a comfortable retirement. Whatever your goals, a Senior Portfolio Manager will co-ordinate with all of your other advisors and help make it happen. You still make the important decisions but I'll make sure you're making the right ones.
It's an emotional investment on both our parts. A good Investment Advisor will know what makes you "tick," and in the beginning that can be a little uncomfortable. However, in time, you'll reach a point where you can release yourself from the burden of second guessing every investment decision. To that end, I'll help you cut through the complexity and confusion and step by step, together, we will strive to make smart decisions with your money and help make your financial dreams a reality.
Brad holds a BA in history from the University of Western Ontario and has earned the two of the most senior investment designations in Canada: FCSI® (Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute) and CIM (Canadian Investment Manager). He is currently Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Investment Advisor with TD Wealth Private Investment Advice.
Brad loves life. He is an avid gardener, a passable chef and he likes to play hockey and golf. He has been married to Pauline since 1986 and the couple have two children, Luc and Alana. The family makes their home in Aurora.
